1. Read everything below so you know how it works.

2. email califone@living-room-shows.com this info:
– a. Your address.
– b. A few photos of your living room.
– c. Please put “Califone Living Room Show” and the name of your city in the subject line.

4. This email goes to the folks at Undertow. They will gather all of the emails, sort out the final routing and start getting back to hosts to confirm shows after the submissions deadline.

Here’s how it works.

1. You have a house, loft, small gallery, studio or other private space that can comfortably and safely host 40-50 people. A place with a big living room, finished basement or other interior space would be ideal. There needs to be street parking, parking garage or public transportation nearby and your neighbors should be cool. It would be a huge bummer if someone called the cops because of all the extra cars and people coming to your house. You probably shouldn’t do this if you live in a small apartment with a bunch of uptight neighbors or a cranky landlord. Be realistic on how many people your place can hold. We need to know how many tickets we can sell in advance. Sorry, we can’t do these shows outside.

2. Ticket price will be $20. Everyone must buy tickets in advance. No tickets will be sold at the door. There will be no reselling or third-party tickets sales. All tickets sales are direct to fans from Undertow. Limit 4 tickets per person. We want everyone to have the same chance of getting tickets.

3. We’ll provide the host with a list of everyone coming to the show. The host won’t have to deal with any money and will only need to check people off the list as they arrive. We ask guests to arrive between 7:00-7:45pm. The shows start at 8pm and we ask everyone to be out of your space by 10pm.

4. The host gets 5 additional free tickets for the show. If you have other friends beyond your 5 guests who want to come to the show you should direct them buy tickets on-line.

5. The shows will promoted on our websites, Facebook and Twitter and word-of-mouth. Your home address will not be published on the web and will only be given to people who purchase tickets.

6. We’ll need your help to spread the word on your Facebook and Twitter too. We’ll create a Facebook event for each show so you can easily invite your friends (Thank you!). Remember, please don’t post your address. The address only goes to people after they buy tickets. We need to keep the location private so people don’t try to show up and pay at the door.

7. You don’t need any sort of sound system. All we need is a nearby electrical outlet for Tim to plug in some gear. It’s good if you have ambient lighting like a lamp on coffee table, floor lamp, or overhead lights with a dimmer to help create a cozy mood and a small table or counter top where Tim can sell some merchandise before and after the show.

8. You don’t need seating for everyone. If you have a bunch of chairs, great! But most shows are floor seating and we let guests know they should bring a cushion or pillow to sit on during the show.

9. There will be no opening acts on the living room shows.

10. We love dogs and cats… we really do! But an excitable pet running around during the show can be distracting for the guests and performers. If you have curious and friendly 4-legged family members, would you be ok with putting them in another part of the house or sending them to a friend’s house during the show?

That’s it.

This is the last of it– Come november 6, 2015, our red red meat reissue project is finished. thank you for being a part of it.

**PRE-ORDER – Product ships on 11/06/2015**

Limited edition of 114 hand bound hardcover books housing all 8 LPs from the Red Red Meat reissue series

This is the reason we make records.

When we first started talking about reissuing the Red Red Meat catalog we quickly realized each record was going to need to be expanded to a double LP, and that’s a lot of records. We’d been toying with the idea for a while of trying to recreate one of those old record albums that you find at garage sales or in junk shops that house a collection of 78’s of show tunes, or classical music, and the volume of material we were looking at for this project seemed like the perfect opportunity to see if we could do it. The problem we were faced with was that we didn’t want to make 1,000 8LP books, we wanted to make 100.  That being the case the only (insane) reasonable approach was to build all the pieces by hand and assemble them ourselves, so that’s what we did.

10383659_10153054834526502_4447779434748231837_n 12141599_10153054834466502_94568323700685221_n

Each one of these 114 8LP books was built from the ground up by the Jealous Butcher extended family and members of Red Red Meat. If you click on the album cover above you’ll see some of the steps we took to get there. Fun fact, the binding method we ended up using is called “Chicago style.”

What you get:

• Hand bound hardcover book housing 8LPs

• Records pressed on colored vinyl that is unique to this package

• Specialty library check out cards with artwork from each release

• Digital downloads for each record with additional material not found on the vinyl

• Each book is numbered and has been signed by the band

• Envelope full of ephemera from the history of the band, the making of the books, postcards, photos and other unique items, all unavailable elsewhere.

Once these are gone, they are truly gone, we will not be making more of them. order it here!

Beauty. I hope a human finds this in a thrift store or garage sale in the dystopian future and feels a little bit less alone.. Thanks to Jealous Butcher Records for all the hard work.

The past is as weird as the future and this band was a big part of how I spent my 20’s- making this music and having great and terrible adventures with my friends..
. amazing. feels incredibly cleansing to document this time in our lives and make the albums available in this beautiful way. if you were around back then or if you’re just catching up with us now – We hope you enjoy these records.

P.S. as we finish shining up and unleashing these old things, we’re very excited to make some new things –  a new califone EP is finished. it’s called insect courage and made out of six songs. we’ll have news about the release very soon .. writing and recording for another EP and album are coming along nicely. feels great to dig into some new ideas.

words: a long time ago i played in a band with my friends. we went through a whole lot of experiences together. some amazing times and some pretty bleak. we were always searching for something in the sounds we made; some magic or truth or beauty. sometimes we were just trying to scare ourselves into something real with the noises that we made and the weird situations that we put ourselves into.. i remember hysterical laughter and awkward silences on long hungover van rides in equal measure.. feeling like we were malformed monsters and misfits one day and the next day that we were one with the universe and tapping into the noise at the center of our human dna..  we actually hit on some true moments along the way- experienced real joy here and there and made some mistakes here and there- but there was always this very honest search. I have some mixed feelings about the past. one side is the beautiful memories of making this music and finding sounds and songs in the noise we made and the weird adventures we had together. the other side is remembering the missed opportunities, lost friends and some crazy stupid decisions. I’m still struggling with this and still searching.  going through these old records and prepping the rrm reissues with Rob and guys  brings all these joyful and terrible memories back. The four albums and all those years of touring we did as red red meat was the beginning of a foundation for me as an artist and as a human animal trying to evolve into a conscious being.  the main thing I’m realizing is we’re still on that same search. I’m grateful and truly appreciate the time and experiences i’ve had making red red meat music with brian, hurley and ben (& glynis, glenn, brad wood, the folks at sub pop and many others that contributed to our ride) – putting these records together feels like a cleansing and a reckoning. we’re doing our best to repackage these albums as beautiful objects and a true document of this time in our lives. the thing that carries me through now is the possibility of continuing the search and continuing to create music with my beautiful friends in the future. the past is okay i guess but the present and the future are the thing. there is still the possibility that someday everything will click and we’ll get it right. right? or maybe something will click and everything will just feel right and we’ll know that all the twists and turns were part of the perfection that brought us to right now. and right now is the only place to be. we hope that you will enjoy our old music and that you’ll be able to hear our search and transpose it onto your own. thanks, TR
